This first poster (above) was a promotional poster for work. Since I work in a stationery shop, our craft section was unheard of, so I was asked to produce a full size poster to advertise our new collections.
This poster again, was a promotional project I was given to do by work. Tim Holtz's collections have some of the world's best die cuts, and are crucial sellers in our craft section. His grunge style suits my style perfectly so I used it to full effect on this special offer advertisement.

Voldemort.
This is a digital painting of the Harry Potter villain Voldemort. As one of my favourite childhood characters, I thought I'd draw him, in my own style. So, I sketched him out in pencil in my logbook, and scanned him in. Through using my Graphics Tablet, I was able to add shadowing and depth to my grayscale canvas. It took 5 hours to complete, and as my first proper attempt at using this digital painting technique, I'm quite happy with the outcome. Time well spent.

My logbook pages.
This image shows 6 researched examples of band posters for a band poster project I was undertaking. I found that the genre of each band impacted heavily on the graphic style of the posters.
My cyanotype experiments during my photography project were ideal to help me learn different and diverse techniques which I’ve never used before. I scanned in my cyanotype samples to use alongside my graphics.
This image shows the start of the making process for my 3D mod roc crow. I drew some quick sketches to get any idea of form and proportion before I started making it.
This image shows my research and the first stages of creating my 3D typography.
Experimental typography is crucial in graphics so my 3D work will heavily influence my Graphics.
This idea was for my fine art narrative brief. My initial ideas were to create a comic strip depicting a series of drawings showing the death of a family of birds falling to their death within a chimney.
My first graphics project was to create a typography-based advertisement for a ‘lonely heart’. I began testing different font styles to use with my advert. I also began the early stages of developing a layout for the text.
This image shows some illustration techniques I have researched in the form of CD covers. I really liked the skeleton composition, so I tried to replicate this style with the use of thin fine liners.
This image shows various research I carried out for my Social Issue project for Graphics. I tried to focus on layout and design research to help me influence my own ideas.
This image shows further research I carried out but more focused upon typography and text layout. I also gained some ideas on how to incorporate texture in my Graphics effectively and professionally.
These Climate Change ideas were my initial set of ideas for my Social Issue Graphics project. I will develop these ideas to make a series of final designs.

Graphic Design portfolio.
The top of this image shows a piece of plywood with various pieces of material on top to create a typography piece. I used copper, aluminium and clear plastic to create the lettering.
This is my Catastrophe 16 Dinosaur band poster. I drew the dinosaur in my sketchbook to begin with, then scanned it in and coloured it in Photoshop. I wanted to stick to a jungle colour theme throughout the poster, hence the use of brown/green/yellow/white.
This is my Mixed Media poster from my band poster brief. I created 'Catastrophe 16' out of Copper and then scanned it into Photoshop. I then made it more dramatic through increasing the level of red in the copper. I drew the skeleton and his cup of tea in my sketchbook before creating it into a silhouette in Photoshop. I wanted to create an easily readable layout, which I believe I achieved.
These are 2 Vinyl prints I created in my Printmaking one-day project. I attained the Pacman graphics from a photocopy of my t-shirt and then etched onto an aluminium plate. I then inked the plate up with various colours, and placed an inked up small format Vinyl on top of the plate. These were my final outcome.
This image shows a Vinyl record player made out of 3D junk items. This, in conjunction with my Vinyl prints, go hand-in-hand. I added text to the top image to give it a more Graphic outcome, which was very effective.
This is a Fine Art illustrative piece depicting the true story of the life and death of a family of crows living in a house. The owner, who finds them dead, soon realises how tragic their death was.
I experimented with various 3D materials to create my own crows. The top crow was made from aluminium strips all bonded together firmly. However, the bottom crow was made from layers of mod roc material, creating a very strong and defined shape, while the layers created a feathered effect.

Still Life Drawing with glass. There were items positoned on a table, and I had to draw them exactly as I seen them through using fineliners.
This image shows my A1 still life line drawing. As I only had a set amount of time to complete this drawing at this angle, I made sure I incorporated as much detail as possible into the objects and the lace cloth underneath them.
This is my graphite and ink life drawing. As I had never experimented with these two materials before, I was curious to whether they'd work well with the angle the model was laid down at. I attended many of these sessions to improve my drawing abilities on a larger scale.
As one of my first projects in the Foundation Course, I learnt that perspective is crucial in most drawings, so I was asked to create an perspective ink drawing from a photograph I was given. I added highlights in white, and added more ink for the shadows. To finish this drawing off, I incorporated a pale pink background and foreground, to allow the bulidings to be the main focus point.
This image shows two textile pieces from one of my one-day projects. The top piece is of a photograph which I sew onto a piece of plastic, then removed certain sections from to leave a clear and effective finish. The bottom piece shows a photocopy of a collaged image of a model cow in an Italian landscape scene. Underneath it has three different textured materials, which I had to sew the photocopy onto. Through cutting out different layers of the materials, it brung out different colours into the scene. Overall, it left me with a Graphic image, which I enjoyed creating.
The image above shows another Textile orientated piece, which I had manipulated in Photoshop. Through scanning my piece of tartan fabric I had collaged into a landscape, I was free to create a very Graphic outcome from the scans. I found an image of Douglas Promenade, Isle of Man, and cut it out from the texture in the scans, making it a focal point in the top of the piece. I then added white section to highlight the windows. I was then directed to a poem, relating heavily to what my piece was about - the Isle of Man landscape. Through adding lyrics, I was able to add an image and text which related to the lyrics.
This set of 3 photographs are part of my 'A Half Remembered Dream' project. Through the use of long exposures on a digital SLR camera, I gained a very mysterious and absract set of images.
These 2 photographs are part of my 'Mixed Lighting' project. Again, I used long exposures with the use of my model, to create a wierd, but an aesthetically pleasing set of images.
On location, I developed the idea of 'Mixed Lighting' to the streets. Through long exposure and a tri-pod at night, I took photographs of cars passing by, leaving beams of lights behind. I then used a model to experiment with the idea of dissappearing into this light, which I successfully captured.
This set of 2 Graphic posters are part of my 'Social Issue' Graphics project. I began the project through researching deforestation as an issue, so I themed these posters on that specific issue. I wanted to create a variety of different outcomes, so I took away images, and used different fonts & layouts to achieve this. I am very happy with my final outcomes.
This poster is also part of my 'Social Issue' Graphics project. I decided upon using Whaling as my final theme, so I designed a mixed media poster around this issue. I incorporated the words "Save The Whales" from various prints I created using printing ink and a printing press. Through scanning them in, I was able to adjust various saturations etc. The whale shape itself was made through cutting the shape out of plywood on a band saw, and then printing it in the same method as the letters. After I had scanned the shape in, I was again able to edit the colour and brightness. The background texture itself was created using a stock image of a texture and a variety of filled textures on Photoshop. I was able to create a very unique and atmospheric background which was ideal to use. The vector waves in the foreground were made through Photoshop brushes and a change of opacities. To finish this piece; I added a crucial message to address my target audience directly of the issue it was advertising - Whaling.
This is my final whale poster. I designed it purely using a vector whale shape on Photoshop, to create the central image, and used texture to create a highly effective background. I then added lyrics in around the whale, from a significant song relating to the 'Last of the Great Whales'. I also used cleverly positioned text to make the piece easy to read, and hard-hitting.
